IRVINE OFFICE HAS CLOSED
After nearly 30 years of practice in Irvine, we are announcing the closure of this location. We will continue to provide comprehensive examinations and place orders for glasses through Friday, August 6, and the office will stay open for dispensing and follow-up care through Friday, August 20. The Laguna Beach location will continue full operation.
The decision to close Irvine was difficult and involved many factors: economic, logistic, and personal. Dr. Cler planning to retire was the most significant factor in deciding to close. The Irvine location has struggled to rebound post COVID. Economically, the pressures are varied: Insurance-fee reductions, online retail, and commercial (chain) optical expansion have made it more difficult for independent optometrists to compete. With Dr. Cler reducing his work schedule, and me (Dr. Cook) working extra hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays in order to serve both offices, it’s become unsustainable to keep both offices open. After September 1, Dr. Cler will be working one day per week. Dr. Cook will continue working Monday through Friday and at least one Saturday per month.
We invite all Irvine patients to join us at our Laguna Beach location. We will continue to provide the quality comprehensive care you have enjoyed over the years. Tabatha will be in the Laguna office full time, where she started with us 16 years ago. The faces and services are the same, only the location will be different.
