Health Smoothie Recipe
I use a Vitamix C-Series with a 64 Oz container and distribute the result to 12 Oz containers. I find that using the juice of one freshly squeezed lemon or lime the smoothie will stay nice and green looking in the refrigerator for 3 days if tightly covered.
Basically, there are 2 main components; the core ingredients that are anti-oxidant, anti-inflamatory, and circulatory- these never vary. And there are the taste and nutrition ingredients for carbs, proteins, fats and taste, though all have additional health benefits.
CORE INGREDIENTS: “finger” means the size of an adult man’s index finger
FRESH TUMERIC ROOT: about the size of one finger per serving, 5-6 per full blender
FRESH GINGER ROOT: depends on taste, 1-3 finger size per full blender
FRESH SERRANO OR JALEPENO PEPPER: 1 or 2 cleaned and seeded per full blender
FRESH GINSENG ROOT: 2-3 finger size per full blender
2 CUPS FRESH SPINACH OR KALE
2 CUPS ALMOND, SOY, OR COCONUT MILK
JUICE OF ONE LEMON OR LIME; DEPENDS ON TASTE
1 TABLESPOON CINNAMON
All the fresh roots are scrubbed not peeled, and I use organic. All the above are then placed in blender and blended on highest speed to a fine puree.
OPTIONAL INGREDIENTS ARE ADDED FOR NUTRITION AND FLAVOR: I then fill the blender with any combination of the following seasonal fruits, vegetables, seeds, nuts, and Greek yogurt.
, BANANA, MANGO, PEAR, PEACH, PAPAYA, BLUEBERRIES, GUAVA, PASSION FRUIT, ETC, (PEELS OF MANY ARE EDIBLE, SOME ARE NOT, ie, DRAGON FRUIT)
AVOCADO, BROCCOLI, CARROT, BEET ROOT (COOKED OR IF RAW ADD TO ROOTS ABOVE)
SEEDS OR NUTS ARE ADDED WITH CORE INGREDIENTS ABOVE: FLAX SEED, CASHEW, ALMOND, PECAN, PEANUT (PERSONALLY I AVOID PEANUTS)
Note: Experiment with taste ingredients for personal / family preferences; adjust liquid amount if too thick.
